Foreward from the British Ambassador

Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Sport Academy’s magazine.

I am delighted to support the work of PSA in bringing football to young people here in Kuwait.

Since I arrived here at the end of August, I have been reminded almost daily of the huge popularity of football and of the English Premiership in particular. In my first few weeks I saw the kids practising on warm Kuwaiti autumn evenings, eagerly competing for the ball despite the temperatures. A few months later, I was happy to be part of a match at the PSA where we remembered the famous “Winter Truce” football match of Christmas Day 1914. I don’t know what the result was 100 years ago, but this time around the German Embassy won – and in some style! A good game all round – and thanks to PSA for hosting.

Having been born in the north west of England, I am especially pleased to see the official partnership between PSA and Everton FC. I have met people here in Kuwait who support a wide range of Premiership Clubs – and some others too. Whatever team you support, I hope that the love of the game – as a player and spectator – continues long into the future.

The work of PSA in bringing people together through sport, in encouraging exercise, teaching teamwork and promoting the “beautiful game”, is invaluable and deserves our full support. Enjoy the magazine – and enjoy the football!
